March 24, 2008 SO my first time in Nashville, Mark Huff my friend picked me up at the airport. He was just so good to me, Irish men are not like that.. i’m generalizing.. OK? WE went to Producer Adam Landry’s studio, and I recorded a new song. I really felt educated by the whole experience, Thanks Adam! Then Me, Mark and Braden Land played at the Family Wash, great gig.. apparently great Shepherd’s pie too.. I think home cooking is a little alien to American’s still.. Everyone cooks at home all the time.. even brothers and son’s and father’s... .. Thanks Mark for a wonderful time. X
March 31st So here I am in San Diego again! Staying with my great friend Sara Petite. She’s the reason I’m here, We became friends when she played in Ireland and we got talking, She’s been over to me twice now gigging, and we work well together, Thanks Sara for all your hard work! The stress was all worth it. XXX So we played the Belly Up Tavern last night,OMG, that place is special, After a long week ofeveryone pulling together to make this thing happen it all worked out. We were lovely and relaxed since we woke up yesterday morning. Shawn Rohlf and Johnny Kuhlkan played with me again, and we rocked.. we really did, I felt it was an ’all the stars aligned night’... To have 200 odd people listen to what we were doing was really something.. It was just a great opportunity. Then the Slidewinders came .. us and had all the 2 steppers out on the flloor, then the mainact The crazy Sara Petite, I did backing vocals for her set. Jeez, everyone was on fire, a special gig indeed. This aspect of "showbusiness" with the changing of the garments.. was all new to me.. but I went along with it.. SQUARE DANCING dresses..Ah! I thought she came straight from OZ... You’re a wonder.. I go home tomorrow ,Thank you everyone for your support while I was here. XXXXX I’ll be back. S
March 29th, 2008 Hey, I should’ve done this last week, still catching up.. It’s been a whirlwind week! I had been looking forward to the desert for a long time, and it was all i thought it’d be, I loved, Joshua Tree park, those mad boulders shaped so smoothly! Then the gigs.... I jammed in on Sara Petite’s gig at Pappy & Harriet’s in PioneerTown, I’d heard of this place. So many great artists play there and I got to do it too, t’was lovely. We played with the Slidewinders, local legend’s, great men they are. Then I played at The Water Canyon in Yukka Valley, thanks to Steve Lester for that. Shawn Rohlf (Mandolin, banjo, guitar) and Johnny Kuhlkan (Djembe, tambourine, shakers you name it) played with me,we’d never played together not to mind ever meet, We all got in the groove and it was sweet! Thanks to Steve, Judy and Barbara! XX
